Play pickleball every day in Spain, with 12+ hours of instruction from our top coaches! Spain is a scenic, vibrant country, known for its lively culture (and its tapas!). Join us as we explore and learn about some of the best parts of Spain! You will stay at 4-5-star hotels and sightsee with a private, English-speaking tour guide. We are delighted to say that the majority of the pickleball courts we will play on will be permanent courts!

Spain is a friendly, clean, organized country, and it is one of the safest in Europe. Explore its beautiful culture in Madrid and Southern Spain, meet new people, try new foods, and see breathtaking sights — all on a Pickleball Getaway!

The trip will include visits to Madrid, Toledo, Seville, Gibraltar, Málaga, cathedrals, natural wonders, and much more!

Most of the courts we play on will be permanent courts, and we will also set up temporary courts as we move to locations where that is necessary. There will be instructional clinics, observed play time, minigames, and open play.

Pricing Information

Single Occupancy: $5,140

Double Occupancy (two guests in one room): $9,160 ($4,580 per person)

You can make a $1,200 initial deposit to reserve a single room, or a $1,800 initial deposit to reserve a double room. Please note that only one $1,800 deposit is necessary to reserve a double room for two guests. These initial deposits will be deducted from your grand total (listed above).

After placing your initial deposit, your full payment is due by January 14th, 2024.

Guests who will not participate in the pickleball events are eligible for a $750 discount. Use the discount code NONPB750 on your initial deposit to redeem this. Please note that using this discount code will remove a guest from the pickleball clinics, and they might not be able to reregister for the clinics if spaces sell out.

Included: 9 nights and 10 days of accommodations in 4-5-star hotels, breakfast, 2 dinners, 1 tapas lunch, 1 show, tours with private guide, private driver and bus, tickets/admissions to sites, 12+ hours of pickleball instruction, court access, and 24/7 assistance in English.

Not included: airfare, and most lunches and dinners.

There will be a designated Trip Coordinator on the trip, to keep everyone on track and resolve any questions or issues our guests might run into.

We welcome guests of any and all skill levels! We will match you with other players so that you are playing with guests at your approximate skill level. This getaway is limited to 32 players, so it will sell out quickly!

If you would like to register for this trip, but you have a partner or roommate who does not play pickleball, please let us know at pickleballgetaways@gmail.com. You will be eligible for a discount for the guest who will not participate in the pickleball events.

We will be staying in 4-5 star hotels throughout our trip. The hotels that are currently planned for this trip (listed below) are subject to change—if they are changed, it will be to very similar hotels.

Transportation

You should fly into the Madrid Airport (MAD) on May 14th. You should fly out of the Málaga Airport (AGP) on May 23rd. For your arrival flight, please note that you might have to fly out on May 13th in order to arrive on May 14th.

IMPORTANT: The airport that you fly into (MAD) is different than the airport that you fly out of (AGP).

We will provide the ground transportation to and from the airport! Before the trip, we will send you an email with a form where you can enter your flight information - based on these details, we will set up ground transportation.

If you book extra nights (see the previous section), we will still provide ground transportation to/from the airport.

Additional Information

• You will need:

  • your passport

  • an EU outlet adapter (available on Amazon)

  • your pickleball paddle!

• Recommended:

  • a portable charger for longer tour days

  • travel insurance—for this trip or any other trip you take! We do not have a specific recommendation for travel insurance; this is up to you.

  • 50-200 Euros to have on hand. We recommend withdrawing Euros from an ATM once you arrive. Euros will be useful for street souvenirs, cash-only shops, tips, etc.

• You will not need:

  • a Visa

  • a Covid test or vaccine

• Tips are not expected by drivers/servers/staff in Europe. If you would like to tip, though, 5%-10% on your bill or a few Euros is the typical tipping range.

• The weather is usually in the 65-75-degree range during May.

Itinerary

Arrival Day (May 14th)

Arrival to Madrid Airport (MAD)

We will have ground transportation waiting for you! Once you collect your bags and pass the security checkpoint, you will see a group of drivers holding up signs to collect their passengers. Your driver will be holding a sign that says “Pickleball Getaways”! If you cannot find them, contact your Trip Coordinator.

Check in to the Madrid Ribera Del Manzanares (or similar hotel)

Get settled in, explore the hotel, and rest up from jet lag!

Day 2 (May 15th)

Breakfast at the hotel

8:45am: Transfer to pickleball courts at Polideportivo Gallur

We will meet at the lobby at 8:30am to ensure a timely departure. The pickleball clinic will be 9am-10:30am, with time for open play afterwards.

12:30pm: Departure to Madrid Tour

This will include a bus tour and a walking tour – you will see the Royal Palace! There will also be free time for lunch. At 6pm, we will go to a traditional Flamenco Show at the famous Teatro Flamenco.

Make sure to bring lots of water, sun protection (sunglasses, hat, sunscreen, etc), fully charged devices, and comfortable walking shoes.

Day 3 (May 16th)

8:45am: Transfer to pickleball courts at Polideportivo Gallur

We will meet at the lobby at 8:30am to ensure a timely departure. The pickleball clinic will be 9am-11am, with time for open play afterwards.

1pm: Departure to Toledo Tour

We will meet in the lobby at 12:45pm, to ensure we leave on time.

This includes a Manchego cheese tasting, free time for lunch, and a visit to the city center, a Synagogue, and the Cathedral of Toledo. We will return to the hotel at 7:30pm.

Day 4 (May 17th)

8:45am: Transfer to pickleball courts at Polideportivo Gallur

We will meet at the lobby at 8:30am to ensure a timely departure. The pickleball clinic will be 9am-11am, with time for open play afterwards. At 12:15pm, we will head back to the hotel.

The rest of the day is yours, unless you would like to participate in an optional tour:

1pm-7:30pm: Optional tour to Segovia

This includes a visit to Alcazar, Roman aqueducts, and the city center. There will also be time to enjoy lunch at El Cordero, which is famous for its traditional suckling pig dish.

Day 5 (May 18th)

8:45am: Transfer to Rota

We will meet at the lobby at 8:30am to ensure a timely departure - please leave extra time to check out of the hotel. On the drive, we will stop at Consuegra Don Quixote Windmills and Córdoba.

Day 6 (May 19th)

The rest of the afternoon is free

You could enjoy the hotel’s amenities, visit the beach, explore Rota, or do anything else in the area!

Day 7 (May 20th)

12pm: Departure to Seville

We will meet in the lobby at 11:45am. We will explore the city and see a cathedral, the Royal Alcazar, the Jewish Quarter, the Plaza de España, a bullring arena, and more. We will return to the hotel at 7pm.

Day 8 (May 21st)

9am-10:30am: Pickleball clinic (with open play afterwards)

The rest of the day is yours, unless you would like to participate in an optional tour:

1pm-7pm: Optional tour to Cádiz and Jerez de la Frontera

This includes a sherry winery tour and tasting in Jerez, and a Cádiz city tour (including its famous cathedral).

Day 9 (May 22nd)

12pm: Departure to Málaga with a stop in Gibraltar

We will meet in the lobby at 11:45am. In Gibraltar, we will see the Rock, St. Michael Caves, Great Siege Tunnels, the Point of Europe, monkeys, Casemates Square, and Main Street. At 4pm, we will continue our drive to Málaga.
